I'd like to say that I don't feel any different now that I am 30, but that wouldn't be entirely true - I suddenly feel better than I have for quite a while!

Let me get you up to date on what has happened so far. But first, a disclaimer; I probably won't do a daily blog entry, but rather one ever few days in which I bring the blog up to date on the missing days in a single post.

I turned 30 on 9 June 2006. Suddenly I'm not in my twenties anymore, good riddance - large parts of my twenties sucked. Not all of it, mind, but there's a lot of mistakes I made in my life up to now which has had unpleasant, and often unfortunately unforseen, reprocutions. I can appreciate, however, that those mistakes allow me to learn - so I'm really quite positive about my 30s, because I feel I am prepared for the world in a way that I was not when I turned, say, 21.

I was quite pleased with the party I threw, and my friends and family are all great people, so a good time was had by all! I spent most of Friday making enough pancake batter to feed an army, and more fillings than you can shake a stick at. I had asked everyone attending to bring along a bottle of some sort of alcohol, as I am currently rather strapped for cash, so that took care of the drinks and the food. I never even got round to the music, but no one seemed to even notice.

My main type of gift turned out to be bottles of expensive liquor, although I did get a really nice toaster, winerack and books as well.

Eventually my last guest left at around 4 and I spent most of Saturday recovering from my hang-over and chatting on the internet. I left the mess in the house for Sunday. At one point I chatted to a guy that visited me once years ago, before I went to the UK, who dropped by for a visit later the day. I must admit that I was surprised at how good he looks for a guy of 43 - and the conversation was also very interesting and stimulating. When he left he kept turning the car on, then we'd start down another conversational avenue, and then he'd turn the car off again. Eventually we managed to say goodbye, and I must say that I was rather impressed by the person.

I hung around and ate pancakes and fillings whenever I got hungry, then around midnight, another guy I'd been speaking to over the internet for quite some time suggested coming over for movies at my place as he was not used to sitting around alone on a Saturday, and so he did.

It was another pleasant surprise to meet yet another engaging and intelligent person (usually the internet disappoints in this regard), and even though I'm 10 years older than this guy I find myself quite attracted to him on both a physical and mental level.

I exposed him to the wonders of Drawn Together and Tripping the Rift until he decided to sleep over because it was really late, had started to rain and he was here with a scooter.

I can't say I got much sleep that night, on account of trying hard not to snore and more importantly the warm, tight, fresh-smelling body in bed with me. I did enjoy it though, and found that I had draped my arm around him during one of the periods I had drifted off and was spooning him. He didn't seem to mind. At one point it literally got too hot and I got up to turn off the heater, get a drink of water and take a leak - something that took quite some time to achieve with the wood I had developed.

We slept till quite late and when we eventually woke up I was again spooning him and holding him, and I'm certain it was impossible for him not to notice what was sticking into his back. Eventually I started running my hands over his body, to which he responded by running his hand (he has gorgeous big hands) over my arm. It progressed to his nipples, but I didn't want to make any moves he didn't want, so didn't go below the belt until he took my hand and put it there.

We had a rather energetic session of playing with each other until we reached the predictable conclusion, after which we showered and had breakfast (pancakes and fillings) and coffee. He hung around till after lunch and we continued to interact in a comfortable manner until he eventually left.

I've spoken to both these guys online since and (eventhough this is going to sound decidedly uncool) it's really great that people meet me and think I'm such an interesting and cool person (I'll get to my new and old insecurities later on). Also, neither guys could believe that I was 30, and thought that I look no older than 25. Hooray for good genes - thx young looking mom and dad!

I can't deny the hope of something more developing with the guy who slept over - but it was just nice meeting two great gay guys in one day without planning it.

A bit later on my brother and his wife and baby daugther arrived and we finished off the rest of the pancakes, but not all the fillings, for Sunday lunch. My brother was then nice enought to help me clean up - I'd chucked the trash out, but not washed any of the dishes.

We hung around and chatted and had coffee until they started watching WWF - I have a rather strong dislike of television already, so I excused myself and came and did a bit of work on the computer till they came and told me they're off.

Later I got the urge to smoke a spliff, so contacted a guy I know who's almost always sorted in that regard. He didn't have, but said that he could organize if I would come over. By the time I got there and we went to the dealer, he had sold out, and we were forced (by this guy, cos I wasn't THAT desperate) to drive to a rather dodgy area where we got a bit of weed. We got back to this guy's potentially really nice, but currently very filthy, flat and after each smoking a joint we divided the weed and I came back home.

Later my friend Christa showed up and we had whiskey and talked shit till quite late - I also had another joint - until she left after midnight (not a big problem, she just climbs over the wall using the ladders we put there for that purpose and she's home. ;)

Yesterday wasn't a hugely productive day, but in the evening I finally got into the flow of things again, and worked till around 4am before crashing till almost 2!

I managed to rearrange the deadline me and a friend set for ourselves on something I'm working on from today to the 27th, so let's hope I can really dig in and do this shit.
